What is Life in the Body
And HOW does it work?
Life in the Body starts from a simple truth: peace is our natural state—in the body as vitality and ease, in the mind as contentment and self-possession.
If peace is natural, what keeps us from it—and how do we return?
Life in the Body was born of my own desire to answer this question?
I spent decades teaching and studying (Pilates, Yoga, philosophy, meditation, and religion) and many times feeling like I was failing at life as I worked through my own challenges in body, mind and relationship looking for that answer.
When the runaway train part of my life came to its crash, I doubted everything I had thought I knew, but this was just the time that I would get to be put to my strongest test. During that major transition in my life, the name Life in the Body came to me in a memory of an older client from my early teaching days. At the start of each session she would remark, “another day of life in the body,” resigned to its curious pains and unexpected events. In my youth I would chuckle and think, let’s make that better. I was determined that life didn’t have to be that way.
Navigating that difficult time and abandoning some practices I had long relied on, showed me both their importance and value and the pieces that were missing. I have since distilled all of those studies, practices and real life experiences into the program that we use everyday at the studio to release holds life has on us, increase our sensitivity so that which we have gotten comfortable with but isn’t healthy begins to prompt us into easy changes, and build new practices that keep us in remembrance of the peaceful feel of our being so we always hear the pings of the actions or situations that aren’t right for us.
On a practical level, in the studio, Life in the Body offers a guided discovery process that untangles the physical and mental knots that pull us away from calm. Through movement, mindful breathing, and sound practices like gentle tuning-fork resonance, you’ll learn a skill we might call meditative awareness—an ability to notice, listen, and respond to the real language of your body and mind.
The method is simple: add what restores, subtract what disturbs, balancing until you land at your own “Ground Zero,” a steady center you can revisit anytime. Once you’ve tasted that state, you can find it again—on demand, in everyday life.
Whether you feel tense, scattered, or simply curious, Life in the Body offers a practical way to reconnect with the peace already within you. Inspired by proven methods, philosophies, and spiritual traditions, it meets you where you are and helps you deepen your connection to a vibrant, fulfilling life.
